Background
Christian Heinigk studied Computational Engineering Science at RWTH Aachen University. In his master thesis he investigated mathematical methods for the efficient description of the scalar magnetic potential of a magnonic crystal. After completing his master thesis, which he wrote at the chair of MathCCES, he found his way to the NLD and has been working there as a research assistant since March 2018.
Areas of Focus
The main focus of his work at NLD is the modelling and simulation of laser manufacturing processes. He is currently developing an application with which the dynamic ablation during laser pulse drilling can be analyzed. Furthermore, he supports the simulation of the liquid phase that occurs during laser beam welding. In the course of his doctoral program Christian Bauer is working on the modelling and simulation of the microstructure and the deformation that occur during additive manufacturing.
